                      Becoming A Member

Joining the Ministry of St. Lucas is easy and straight forward, once you have made the decision to do so!

The Process

After you have been our guest long enough to know St. Lucas is the place you want to call home, there are three simple steps which facilitate making a commitment with this congregation.

  1. Let us know of your decision!  Write your contact information on the Friendship Folder passed during worship and check the box indicating you would like to join St. Lucas.  Someone will phone. OR click on this link to schedule an appointment with Pastor Carol. ckeller@stlucasucc.org
  2. Meet with Pastor Carol to understand details and ask questions.
  3. Be present in worship at our scheduled time to be recognized and received into the life of this church. Our next opportunity for this is November 22, 2009, in the 10:45 AM service of worship.

Data Forms — You are asked to fill out a brief form to provide information which will help us partner you with another family or person of similar interests.  This partner in membership will be there for you as you assimilate into this community. This information will also be entered into our database for sending you notice about congregational events. Click here to download membership data forms

You are also encouraged to download and complete a Talent & Interest Survey which will help you and your family integrate into the life of this church.

Personal Meeting - Contact Pastor Carol to schedule a personal visit during which you may ask any questions about St. Lucas UCC pertaining to activities, ministries, educational opportunities and spiritual growth sessions.

Enrichment Education

Three times a year, for a three week series held Sundays at 10:45 a.m., an informal seminar is offered to all inquirers.  Whether you are a prospective member or an established member of St. Lucas UCC, this is a time to come together to learn in a "question friendly" environment.

The sessions rotate through a cycle of three general topics:

  1. What does it mean that our faith is Christ centered?  Who is Jesus and who are we because of Jesus?
  2. Who is this denomination, the United Church of Christ — how did it begin and what does it offer?
  3. All about St. Lucas UCC: its history, governance, commitments to mission and the opportunities in this congregation for nurture and fellowship.
