St. Lucas' Middle School youth group engage in a variety of activities to achieve one or more of our 5 goals: Evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, service and worship, and many of our activities combine 2 or more of these. But, some are just for FUN! The primary goal of Middle School fellowship is to connect kids to thier faith by helping them connect to each other.

On February 14, we participated in the SKATE YOUR HEART OUT event to benefit Camp Rhythm - an organization that helps send kids with heart defects to summer camp. We sold red carnations in the Social Hall between services and then SKATED OUR HEARTS OUT later that day at Steinberg ice rink in Forest Park.

For the past 10 years, St Lucas UCC has partnered with the Salvation Army annual bell ringing campaign. During those years, hundreds of St. Lucas members have volunteered to work two-hour shifts at the kettles and wish a Merry Christmas to shoppers at the Schnucks Crestwood Store. Under the leadership of members Paul Fischer and Karl Grattendick, over $100,000 has been collected during those years. The 4 pictures below were taken on December 12, 2009 of the middle school youth serving and celebrating the season.  There were thunder claps and lightning bolts, but spirits were high as the group finished their two hour stint. These young people are learning that a part of giving includes service to others.
