CHRISTIAN   EDUCATION

Christian Education is an integral part of congregational life and mission, a process that begins in childhood and continues throughout the life span. We want to encourage and enhance faith development for each member, so we are always working to provide opportunities for Christian growth and nurture.

St. Lucas Pre-School

St. Lucas Pre-School operates within the Church as a separate entity. It is well-known as a quality program which faithfully serves families from the St. Lucas

congregation and the broader community. In addition, the lively presence of these preschoolers contributes to the congenial atmosphere through the week. Click here for more information

Children's Education

Our Church School offers young people a firm foundation in the Bible and Christian values. We pride ourselves in our team of caring, dedicated, and well-trained church schoolteachers. Classes are available for young people from birth through high school.

Children's Education Regular worship is an important part of our total Christian Education program. Younger children and youth attend part of each Sunday worship service; Confirmation and post-confirmation students are encouraged to participate as adults in the worship life of the congregation. Childcare for children under two is available during worship services, if needed. Click here for upcoming events

St. Lucas provides a Vacation Bible School each summer for members and friends aged 3 through 7th grade. 8th graders and High School teens are encouraged to assist teachers by being helpers. The program provides an extended opportunity for sharing the Good News with our children, for reaching out to the community and for having lots of fun!

Youth Confirmation usually takes place during the 8th grade year, with a program that begins in September and culminates with a Service of Confirmation on Palm Sunday. Students meet weekly on Wednesday evenings, and on Sunday for worship and faith development class. Field trips, mission activities and retreats are also part of the Confirmation experience. Professional staff and adult mentors direct and share all these activities.

High School Youth (9, 10, 11 and 12 grade) meet on Sundays for discussion class from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Activities include retreats in the fall and spring, Easter Sunrise Service, service projects that include the Souper Bowl of Caring, a January lock-in and a progressive dinner.

Mission/Workcamp Trip is an annual summer trip to do mission and service work.  The youth who attend must be active members of the High School Youth group and must participate in the fundraising.

Adult Ministry

Adult Education is scheduled seasonally, and includes a variety of offerings: traditional Bible study, biblical topics and current events, and topical discussions of faith issues. Fellowship groups also offer opportunities for spiritual growth in retreat settings and special programs. Our mid-week Lenten series combines adult education opportunities with worship and dinners.
