    Strengthen The Church

Every Child’s Hope was founded as the German Protestant Orphan’s Home in 1858 by Rev. Louis Nollau, as an orphanage for children whose immigrant parents died in the cholera outbreaks that were common in St. Louis during the mid-19th century.

ECH moved to its current location on St. Charles Rock Road in the mid-1860’s and cared for over 300 orphaned children at the time.  As the needs of St. Louis youth evolved over the decades, the name was changed to Evangelical Children’s Home in 1945.  In 2009, Evangelical Children’s Home changed its name to ECH: Every Child’s Hope to better reflect its current mission.

Today, ECH is no longer an orphanage.  ECH now cares for over 1400 children a year by providing a variety of programs in St. Louis and Kansas City that are dedicated to preventing child abuse, treating emotional trauma and mental health issues, and providing after care and follow-up services.  These programs are designed to strengthen families and encourage all family members to reach their full potential by leading healthy, productive and self-sufficient lives.

These programs include:

Residential Treatment
Steppingstone Transitional Living
ECH School
Head Start Early Childhood Education
Family Solutions for Kids
Out-Patient Psychiatric Services
Foster Care Case Management
