Celebrate your Talents by engaging in a ministry of St. Lucas UCC. Spiritual renewal, Christian fellowship and planting seeds of faith are just a few of the many benefits of joining one of the various ministries of our Church. See the opportunities available in the Welcome Center on Sunday, September 7, 2008.

A Quiet Place Apart – Matins at St. Lucas UCC

Quiet times of meditation and communion are being offered next  Wednesday morning August 27th.  You are invited to experience our beautiful sanctuary early in the morning for 30 sacred minutes of conversation with God.  Each Wednesday will be a distinct meditation, so come as your schedule allows.  We will begin at 6:30 A.M. (Please enter the church through the North Narthex doors off the larger parking lot).  Pastor Carol

Donations of cookies, cakes, and other baked goods are needed for the Cake Walk at the Ice Cream Social. Please plan to drop off your baked (or store bought) donation in the kitchen on Sunday, August 24th. Contact Sara Holst at 842-4107 if you have any questions.

Additional Keeping God’s Children Safe Seminars have been scheduled for September 8 and 9 at 7:00 p.m.  Anyone working in a child or youth ministry of St. Lucas will need to complete the certification process before spending time as a teacher, event chaperone, coach, choir director, etc.  If you have attended the seminar and did not have your photo made for the identification badge, please see Karen Kramer in the Welcome Center today between services.

Organizers of the YMCA Book Fair extend a warm thank you to the members and friends of St. Lucas for their generous donations to this year’s fair. The fair opens this weekend and continues through Wednesday, August 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day at the Kennedy Recreation Center in Suson Park.

The Ambassadors will host their annual Cookout Breakfast on Saturday, September 13, at 8:30 a.m. at the Pavilion. Anyone 50+ is invited to attend. Please call Karen Lindner at 636-717-1515 to let her know you’ll be coming.

Church School Teacher Orientation will be Sunday, August 24, at 10:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room. If you are serving as a classroom Shepherd, Rotation Teacher, Crib Room or Toddler Teacher for the upcoming school year, please attend this important meeting.

Parents are the primary guide for their children’s faith education and to help in this journey, a three week Bible Blast has been scheduled for parents and children second grade and older.  Join us during the 10:45 a.m. worship time on the following Sundays: September 14, 21 and 28.  This Bible Blast is designed to under gird the foundation of a life long faith committed to study of the scriptures.  Please add your names to the sign-up sheet in the Welcome Center if you would like to join in this Biblical adventure.  Direct any questions to Michele Ottinger.

If you would like the use of a hearing aid during worship, please ask an usher and he/she will be happy to get one for you.

C.D’s and D.V.D’s are available in the library if you are interested in listening to, or viewing a particular Sunday service in your home. All you need to do is sign the disc out in the notebook next to the disc file, and sign it back in when it is returned. We ask that you return all discs promptly, so they may be available for others to borrow as well.
