About the event
Mark your calendars now for St. Lucas UCC's Sunday Fundays! Come and join in the fun as we put a new twist on VBS and gather ALL AGES together to explore some of God’s most interesting creatures. Each Sunday will kick off with some music, a short devotion followed by a guest speaker, and end with a hands-on activity for everyone present. (It is also rumored that there will be some snacks available!)
The events scheduled are for Sundays, July 31st, and August 28th. The events will start in the Social Hall of St. Lucas at 5 PM. The doors will open at 4 PM and you are welcome to bring a picnic basket to share with your family prior to the start of our event. There will be some folding chairs available but you may want to bring a lawn chair or blanket so you can get close to the action.
Who has ever seen the birdman tablet from Cahokia? How about the Key Marco cat from Florida? Here’s your opportunity. Join us for our final summer Sunday Funday, August 28th as we enter the history of the Indigenous people with archeologist, Natalia Moonier.
Natalia Moonier is an archaeologist who has been in love with the field for ten years and counting. A graduate of Cor Jesu Academy (’17), Natalia’s particular interests include North American and Mesoamerican archaeology, with emphases on iconography and the relationships between landscape, ideology, and ancestral memory. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster (’21), where she researched her Independent Study, titled Narrative and Image as Memory: An Alternate History of the Alton Piasa Using Indigenous Contexts. Through the years, Natalia has participated in research and projects in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Guatemala. She currently works with TerraXplorations, Inc. and assists in fieldwork and research throughout the American southeast.
