Isaiah 58 Ministries - Mission Moment

On Sunday, May 11 we heard from Rev. Brenda Booth, the Executive Director of Isaiah 58 Ministries. Isaiah. 58 Ministries has served South St. Louis since 1970, meeting the needs of the community through a food pantry, clothing closet, and utility assistnace. They partner with churches and community organizations to meet physical and spirituals needs, serve as an ecumenical witness, and work to alleviate hunger, poverty, racism, and injustice in the community.

The exciting news is that Isaiah 58 is growing! In the last 4 years they have doubled the number of people they are serving on a monthly basis. They see over 1,200 people visiting the food pantry every month. Their newly added shower ministry serve between 6 to 10 people every week.

They are also on the verge of finding a new home. The church Isaiah 58 has been houed in is going up for sale. This big change is an exciting opportunity for the ministry to find a home tailor made for all of their needs.

Throughout the year we participate in various food drives and other collections for Isaiah 58, and your contributions to the St. Lucas UCC general fund also help support the ministry.
